About

The Horowhenua Astronomical Society Inc. (HASI) was originally formed in 1990, as the Foxton Beach Astronomical Society (FBAS), and became an Incorporated society on 26th April 1993. The name was changed in 2012 to reflect its wider membership base and outreach activities. It is located in Foxton Beach, Horowhenua, Lower North Island, New Zealand. Our members come from all over the Horowhenua and Manawatu. They range in experience from beginner to advanced.

The Horowhenua Astronomical Society offers:-

- a friendly social and learning environment
- talks and training
- learning opportunities in the night sky and use of telescopes
- a monthly newsletter
- observing programme
- loan of books, DVDs and equipment
- free public stargazing and outreach

all at no additional cost to paid membership types.

FREE OUTREACH MEMBERSHIPS
You can sign up for free email notification of our public outreach events and activities, without having to be a financial member of the Society! Simply select the "Stargazing Events" option when completing your registration details when you join the email group.

PAID MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTIONS
Paid membership runs from 1st June to 31st May, currently at the rate of $30 for waged members and $15 for unwaged (includes students and children). All members will receive a membership card, monthly newsletter and access to all member-only areas of our groupspaces site.  Simply select the "Full Membership" option when you complete your registration details, and a representative of the Society will contact you shortly.
