Several members of the Horowhenua Astronomical Society set up a stall at the Foxton Easter Fair on Easter Sunday and used the Society's two solar telescopes to show fanastic views of the sun to the public.
The weather couldn't have been better, with clear skies all day, except for one rogue cloud that blocked viewing for about 10 minutes. Literally hundreds of people visited us and a lot of interest was generated from the solar viewing. It was an exhausting day, but well worth the effort, judging by the expressions of amazement and delight from the public! I've created an album with a few photos from the event below.
Well done to those involved. I'm looking forward to many more successful public outreach events!
