The Horowhenua Astronomical Society was invited by the Pheonix Astronomical Society over to Aotearoa Stonehenge to join in its Spring Equinox celebrations. HASI took over to the Wairapa its two solar 'scopes. One was used for public viewing, the other was hooked up to a camera and a live feed was displayed on the TV screen in the clubhouse. The day turned out nice and sunny and so we were all able to enjoy many hours of solar observing. During the afternoon there were some wonderful, ever changing prominences, that kept people enthralled for hours. In the evening the Wiccan and Druid ceremony of the spring equinox - Ostara - took place within the circle of the stones. The above pictures were taken by our roaming cameraman - John Honore.
